Rookie recovering from early August knee drain
Per Jeff Howe of The Athletic: “There has been a constant sense of optimism surrounding Rex Burkhead’s readiness despite a slight tear in his knee, but that sense hasn’t been as strong around Sony Michel, as sources maintained to The Athletic earlier this month the start of his regular season was in jeopardy due to a knee drain that was caused by a meniscus issue.” (The Athletic – Jeff Howe)
Nerdy Football Analysis: As the New England backfield turns. Burkhead was overprotective of Burkhead this month because the Patriots supposedly have big plans for him. That could and should still be the case. Michel was either supposed to fill the Dion Lewis role in this offense or be the next Alvin Kamara, depending on who you ask. Owners are advised to treat both Burkhead and Michel as high-upside flexes or RB3 until further notice.
