Redskins RB coach on Guice/Peterson

“Ideally, you’d like to see a 50-50 or 60-40 [split]”

The Redskins can use two backs like this on a regular basis — with Chris Thompson serving as a third-down back. But the every-down role will be manned by Derrius Guice and Adrian Peterson. “They’re both different, but they’re both explosive,” Jordan said. “Ideally, you’d like to see a 50-50 or 60-40 [split]. But the thing is, all those guys can play on first, second or third down. Ultimately, if Guice is healthy, he would be the top back. That’s why the Redskins drafted him in the second round. But they also will need Peterson. (ESPN)

Nerdy Football Analysis: Guice has some hurdles to overcome in training camp as he’s recovering from an ACL injury, but if healthy, he should end up being the 1A to Peterson’s 1B. Still, this may be a situation that frustrates fantasy owners during the season if the two are used in a 60-40 or 50-50 split as Redskins RB coach Randy Jordan suggests. Guice is currently going in round 5 of most 12-team redraft leagues with Peterson being drafted in round 10.
