Deal can’t be completed until March 13th

The Baltimore Ravens have an agreement in principle to trade former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco to the Denver Broncos, league sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

The trade cannot be officially processed until the new NFL league year begins March 13. When the deal is completed, it likely will be for a mid-round pick, sources told ESPN. When the deal is completed, the Ravens will save $10.5 million in cap space. However, they will carry $16 million in dead money on their 2019 cap. (ESPN)

Nerdy Football Analysis: John Elway has recently made comments that the Broncos will be looking to improve their quarterback situation in 2019. Whether Flacco is an improvement over Case Keenum remains to be seen. Keenum has one year remaining on his deal in Denver, including $7 million guaranteed. The Broncos have the 10th pick in the upcoming draft. This move also locks in Lamar Jackson as the starting QB in Baltimore.
