RB was due $10.5 million today
Rams are releasing RB Todd Gurley, per source. Cutting him today spares the Rams from having to pay him an additional $10.5 million due today. Rams spent weeks exploring a trade for him. Now Gurley will be free to sign with any team. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
Nerdy Football Analysis: Another reminder that the average dollar figure of contracts don’t mean a damn thing. Gurley received a four-year, $60 million dollar extension less than two seasons ago. Gurley’s ankle and knee issues have bothered him over the last two seasons, but much like David Johnson, teams will be willing to give a player of his caliber another shot. Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson are next up on the Rams running back depth chart.
