InjuryRight knee sprain; conflicting reports about 2015 availability

Once Titans QB Marcus Mariota hurt his knee on Sunday at the New England Patriots, it was clear there was a good chance his season would be finished.

Reports on Monday confirmed that Mariota won’t play in the Tennessee Titans’ last two games. Chris Mortensen of ESPN said he has a sprained MCL, the same injury he had earlier this year that cost him some time. This time the injury is to his right knee; earlier in the season it was his left knee. (Yahoo! Sports)

Nerdy Football Analysis: Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt tweeted Mariota’s status is essentially week-to-week and that nothing has been decided yet. With Tennessee at 3-11 and in the driver’s spot for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, it may be in the team’s best interest to bring him back next year while fortifying his offensive line and receiving corps in the offseason. Mariota appears to be a keeper and is a player owners should consider as a strong QB2 next season. Zach Mettenberger will fill in for however long Mariota is out.
