Bucs waived TE last week after DUI arrest

The New York Jets claimed tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins on waivers Monday, only three days after he was arrested on a DUI charge. Seferian-Jenkins was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday, the same day as the arrest. He also had a 2013 DUI arrest in Washington while in college.

The Jets have three tight ends on their roster, but none of them has a reception; they’re the only team without a reception at the position. (NFL.com)

Nerdy Football Analysis: By rule, Seferian-Jenkins is subject to league discipline, so don’t expect an immediate contribution. While New York isn’t the greatest environment for a player with his history off-field issues, it is a worthwhile gamble for a team that really hasn’t had much at tight end since Dustin Keller. If ASJ doesn’t get hit too hard by the NFL for this latest arrest, there is a chance he could be a nice weapon for the Jets sometime in November.
