“The fire to compete and play this game is just burning too strong”

Although he retired from the NFL last May, the future Hall of Famer is coming back to the Cowboys for what will be his 16th pro season. Jason Witten will return to the field and officially sign a contract with the Cowboys, who retained his rights when he was placed on the NFL’s Reserve/Retired list. “The fire inside of me to compete and play this game is just burning too strong,” Witten said in a statement. Nerdy Football Analysis: Witten’s time in the Monday Night booth comes to and end. The Cowboys struggled to get production from the tight end position with Blake Jarwin and Dalton Schultz. While Witten certainly has a name factor his last season in the league landed him as the TE9 with a 63-560-5 line. Given the state of the position, he’ll be on the TE2 radar in fantasy.
