Ian Thomas to fill void of Greg Olsen?

InjuryStill waiting on official diagnosis on Olsen

The downside of this Week 1 victory is that the Panthers likely will have to replace Greg Olsen (foot) for an extended period of time. First up will be rookie Ian Thomas, a fourth-round pick out of Indiana, and then there’s former Canisius College basketball player Chris Manhertz, who came to Carolina two years ago as a project. Nerdy Football Analysis: Manhertz profiles more as a blocker so Thomas has a chance at fantasy relevance as long as Olsen remains sidelined. The tight end position is a focal point of the Panthers offense but it remains to be seen how much that will change with Olsen out. Last year, the passing game ran through Devin Funchess and Christian McCaffrey during the 9 games missed by Olsen.
