On the heels of Atlanta Falcons star running back Devonta Freeman leaving Sunday’s game due to a concussion, rookie Tevin Coleman has suddenly become a hot commodity in fantasy football.

Freeman has been a revelation this season, and he was well on his way to a Pro Bowl berth. The second-year back was gashing the Indianapolis Colts to the tune of 43 yards on three carries Sunday, but he left with a concussion and did not return, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

Atlanta selected Coleman with the No. 73 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft out of Indiana, and while many expected him to seize the starting job immediately, a rib injury early in the season allowed Freeman to ascend to the No. 1 spot.

Coleman entered Week 11 with modest production to the tune of 42 carries for 183 yards and one touchdown in seven contests.

His 4.4 yards-per-carry average is solid, though, and he is coming off a collegiate season in which he rushed for over 2,000 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Coleman is in an ideal spot to make a fantasy impact since opposing defenses focus largely on wide receiver Julio Jones, and quarterback Matt Ryan likes to make his running backs part of the passing game.

While Coleman’s value moving forward depends largely on the severity of Freeman’s concussion, don’t hesitate to jump on the opportunity to add Coleman to your fantasy team if he is available in your league.

Provided Freeman misses any additional games, Coleman will be a worthy starter, and he has the potential to put up top-15 production for as long as he is in the starting lineup.
