<div>Jeremy Langford's Updated Fantasy Outlook After Matt Forte's Injury</div>

Matt Forte has been involved in trade discussions ad nauseam with the trade deadline set for Tuesday, but the more important situation at this current time is his health.

The Chicago Bears‘ star running back left Sunday’s 23-20 loss against the Minnesota Vikings with a right knee injury, per the organization:

Forte left the game with 41 yards on 10 carries and also had 28 receiving yards on four catches. Bears 2015 fourth-round draft pick Jeremy Langford was the primary tailback for Chicago in the second half.

Let’s take a look at how the rookie from Michigan State fared in Forte’s absence.

As of Sunday afternoon, head coach John Fox did not provide any update on Forte’s knee, per Adam Jahns from CSN Chicago:

That more than likely means the Bears will have a better idea by Monday as to the severity of Forte’s injury. If it’s something that will keep Forte out of action for a number of weeks, Langford could be the No. 1 option out of the backfield for Chicago.

Langford was all right on Sunday, rushing for 46 yards on 12 carries. He didn’t make as big of an impact in the receiving game as Forte did, though. In fact, he essentially cost Chicago a win with a crucial drop on third down in the fourth quarter. Bears fans will think more of that drop than his future fantasy outlook. But for those thinking on Langford as a potential option at running back, reconsider.

The Bears have mightily struggled running the ball this year with Forte. Without him, it’s an even bigger problem for Chicago. Forte has averaged four yards per carry this year but has only eclipsed 100 rushing yards once. That was back in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers.

Putting a huge workload on a rookie running back on a struggling team is not an ideal situation for the Bears. If Forte is out for a few weeks, Fox and his offensive coaching staff may ask way more of Jay Cutler than they already do. Stay away from Langford. There are bound to be better options on the waiver wire who are available.
