Derrick Henry, Kendall Wright, Rishard Matthews Post-Week 8 Fantasy Advice

Thursday night football developed into a cakewalk for the Tennessee Titans against the Jacksonville Jaguars from Nissan Stadium.

For fantasy owners who have Titans running back Derrick Henry alongside wide receivers Kendall Wright and Rishard Matthews, that pointed to good things moving forward. Let’s take a look at their Thursday night performances:

Derrick Henry

Henry made the most of his limited touches behind DeMarco Murray in the first half Thursday night, averaging 5.6 yards per carry and finding the end zone for the first time in his NFL career.

He showed off his ability to bounce outside, burning Jaguars safety and fellow rookie Jalen Ramsey in the process, via the NFL:

There was a chance that he would have seen even more of the ball after Murray suffered a foot injury, via Around The NFL. However, Tennessee’s top back was able to come back.

For fantasy owners who carry Henry on their roster, Murray’s foot is something to look out for in the coming week, as a limited Murray could mean that the rookie is going to get an expanded role in the offense moving forward.

Next week, the Titans will play a San Diego Chargers rushing defense that has allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to running backs this season, so Henry could be a solid start if Murray is hampered come Week 9.

Kendall Wright

For the second time in three weeks, Wright has put up 14 or more fantasy points. It was highlighted by a 36-yard touchdown in which he burned the Jacksonville secondary, via the NFL:

However, Wright has been an inconsistent fantasy option, recording one or no points in Weeks 4, 5 and 7.

While the Chargers rush defense has been sieve-like against the run, they’re the 11th-best fantasy defense against wide receivers.

Given Wright’s inability to string together solid weeks, fantasy owners might want to look elsewhere for starting wide receivers.

Rishard Matthews

Tennessee’s No. 1 wide receiver hasn’t put up the numbers expected of a top pass-catcher. Through seven games this season, Matthews’ 23 receptions ranked third on the team behind tight end Delaine Walker and Murray.

It has yielded subpar fantasy outputs, as he’s recorded a double-digit score just once this season.

Thursday looked as though that trend would continue, as he was a secondary option for quarterback Marcus Mariota for most of the night. However, a four-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter padded his stats.

His unpredictable outputs should keep fantasy owners away from him for at least next week against the Chargers, though.
