InjurySuffered hip injury early in Week 1 win

Demaryius Thomas (hip) again stood on the sideline twice as long as he practiced Thursday at Broncos headquarters. The veteran wide receiver tried to shrug off the seriousness of a left hip injury. But a full week after first suffering pain, the hurt is lingering. Just like he did Wednesday, Thomas on Thursday participated in only one-third of the Broncos’ practice snaps, coach Gary Kubiak said. He has spent most of this week on the sideline.

“It’s day by day. I ain’t gonna be feeling great. But it’s getting better every day. … Stopping out of breaks, going down field, even taking hits. With the hip, you never know,” Thomas said. (Denver Post)

Nerdy Football Analysis: Thomas owners need to start making other plans for Week 2, if not beyond. It is a lot to ask any player to play through a hip injury to begin with, and hip injuries are almost serious in nature. Jordan Norwood and Cody Latimer would be the receivers most likely to fill in should DT miss time, but Emmanuel Sanders and Virgil Green would be the ones to benefit most statistically from his absence.
