C.J. Anderson, Ronnie Hillman Post-Week 12 Fantasy Advice

The storylines will belong to Brock Osweiler, but C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman need some credit, too.

The two-headed Denver Broncos rushing attack did its part to help lead the team to a 30-24 overtime victory over the no-longer-undefeated New England Patriots.

With Osweiler commanding the offense, the running game in Denver has become a great asset for head coach Gary Kubiak’s club. Let’s take a look at the two running backs’ prospects moving forward in fantasy after they both had huge nights.

C.J. Anderson

Only two running backs eclipsed 20 points in ESPN.com fantasy leagues Sunday: Adrian Peterson and C.J. Anderson.

Anderson’s two second-half touchdowns, including a 48-yard score in overtime, capped off an outstanding day. He averaged 7.5 yards per carry and also caught all four passes that were thrown his way for 40 yards.

When the Broncos have an effective running game, it makes them a dangerous team. When Osweiler is throwing well and not turning the ball over, it opens up the running game. As long as Osweiler continues to play well, Anderson will see plenty of open holes as the lead tailback.

Sunday’s performance was also a sign that his foot injury has finally healed, as NFL.com’s Alex Gelhar pointed out:

Anderson is primed to have a solid December, which could prove to be a difference late in your fantasy season. Keep Anderson in your lineup until the end.

Ronnie Hillman

Hillman has been the biggest surprise of the Broncos’ season, as he scored his fourth touchdown in his last five games Sunday night.

He also went over 10 points in ESPN.com leagues for the sixth time this year and has scored double digits in four of his last five games.

Denver’s running game has been just as effective as the Kansas City Chiefs‘ two-headed attack of Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware. Osweiler’s presence at quarterback is helping the running attack late in the season, and just like the Chiefs’ backs, Hillman and Anderson should be mainstays in fantasy lineups going forward.

But despite Hillman’s consistency, Cameron Wolfe of the Denver Post feels it’s only a matter of time before Anderson gets the bulk of the carries again:

Either way, it’s working for the Chiefs, and it will work for the Broncos. Keep Hillman in your lineup until his carries go down considerably.
